Book Signing

Saturday, March 4

Dr. Lumpkins will hold a book signing with her father, Rev. Israel Boyd Simms Groves, Jr. at the Lucile Bluford Library in Kansas City, Missouri on Saturday, March 4th at 2 p.m.  This is her first historical fiction novel co-authored with her dad. The coming of age story is loosely based on the life of her grandfather who rode trains and traveled with hobos across the Southwest as a teen in the 1930s. Training Summit

Thursday, March 9

Dr. Lumpkins will speak at the Region 3 GMaP (Geographical Management of Cancer Health Disparities Program) Technical Training Summit in Albuquerque, New Mexico on March 9. She will share her research experiences as a National Cancer Institute K01 Mentored Science Awardee while at the University of Kansas Medical Center. 

Poster Presentation

Thursday March 16

Dr. Lumpkins and Faithworks consortium member, Dr. Lynn Miller will co-present at the American Medical College of Genetics Annual Conference on Thursday, March 16 in Salt Lake City.  The presentation focuses on research conducted in the Kansas City area in 2021 and is titled "A Community Based Participatory Research Pilot Project to Increase Awareness of Cancer-Related Genetic Counseling and Testing Through Communication Asset Mapping"
